|Quasilinear evolution equations involving nonlocal generators can be often interpreted as hydrodynamic limits of interacting particle systems. However, for strongly nonlinear equations, such as the porous medium equation, the probabilistic interpretation is more complex and leads to the so-called nonlinear McKean-Vlasov equations. In cases of branching processes the limiting description may even preserve a random fluctuation term in the resulting evolution equation. Such is the case in certain evolutionary population dynamics models.|
