Sperling/Cohen Tutoring Program

The Sperling/Cohen tutoring program is offered by the Pennsylvania State University's Mathematics Department to its calculus students. This program provides free tutoring for our students in Math 140 and 141 and in the past has proven to be very effective at improving student's performance in these courses.

Small groups of 3-5 students meet twice a week with specially trained tutors to discuss any problems they are having in the course. In addition, the tutors are ready to help the students with the difficulties they may be having with their homework assignments, or any other aspect of the course.

IMPORTANT FACTS TO CONSIDER

" Students must be invited to participate in the program by receiving an invitation by their instructor.

" Participation in program is on a first come, first served basis - we can not guarantee that all students who wish to participate will actually be accepted in the program, as space is limited.

" If students are accepted into the program, they will be expected to make a commitment to attend two tutoring sessions a week. If they miss two tutoring sessions without a valid excuse, they will be dropped from the program.

If you are interested in being a tutor, please fill out the Tutor Application and submit it to the Undergraduate Mathematics Office.
