Honors Core for Mathematics Majors

The Department of Mathematics has introduced new requirements for Schreyer Honors College students majoring in mathematics. In order to graduate with honors, a mathematics major must now complete the following:

  • The general requirements for the major as specified in the Undergraduate Mathematics Handbook
  • The honors thesis
  • Three MATH courses at the 300- or 400-level from the following list with a grade of B or better in each course, and with a grade point average of at least 3.50 for those courses with the three best grades:

    • MATH 311M
    • MATH 312H
    • MATH 497A
    • MATH 497B
    • MATH 497C
    • Any other MATH 497 Honors courses that may be offered each spring semester

Note:  The courses MATH 497A, MATH 497B, and MATH 497C refer to the algebra, analysis and geometry courses which are offered in our department every fall semester in our prestigious MASS Program.   Note that these courses are customized every year so that the offerings change annually.

For answers to questions regarding this program, please contact Dr. Sergei Tabachnikov, the Honors Director for the Department of Mathematics.
