A note on the way questions are asked:
As you know, when
asked to "solve" for x, you can plug the answers back into the problem
to see if you get a true statement. To avoid plugging in to find a
correct choice on a multiple choice test (to force you to actually
solve the problem algebraically), we sometimes ask you to "find the sum
of the solutions" or "find the product of the solutions" or simply "how
many solutions".
