Math 140
Exam 2 Information
Spring 2008
When you get your scantron at the exam, bubble your student id, your section, and your exam form.
Failure to do so correctly may result in a penalty of 5 points.
It is expected that you have memorized all trig derivatives, including cot x, sec x, csc x.
Exam 2 includes 13 multiple choice questions each worth 5 points and 2 true/false questions each worth 2 points.
Answer multiple choice and true/false questions on your scantron.
There are 3 partial credit problems for which you must show
work, two are worth 11 points each, and 1 is worth 9 points.
Partial credit problems could come from the following list:
- Theorems: EVT, MVT, and Rolle's (a specific case
of MVT). Know the conditions necessary and the results of each of
these.
- Graphing (a compilation of skills from 4.3-4.5) (see graph form)
- Given a graph of a derivative function, y = f '(x), give information about the function y = f (x), intervals where f is increasing/decreasing, concave up/concave down, and where the function has extrema.
- Optimization problems. You MUST show that the value you find provides the extremum required. (Is it a min or is it a max?)
Following is a breakdown of multiple choice questions by section.
