Welcome to my gymnastics page. Within this page you can find links to many other gymnastics sites on the web, a (small) gallery of images of my favorite gymnasts, and the gymnastics biographical index - a compendium of bios, with links, of the world's top female gymnasts of the '90s. This page is under constant construction.

Fun Fact: By beating out Simona Amanar (by 0.037 point) for the FX gold in Atlanta, Lilia Podkopayeva of Ukraine becomes the first non-Romanian gymnast since 1976 to win the women's FX event final in Olympic Games. The FX winners during the streak are: Nadia Comaneci '80, Ecaterina Szabo '84, Daniela Silivas '88, and Lavinia Milosovici '92.

A note about the selection of gymnasts found within the index (Formerly "why isn't Viktoria Karpenko in it?"): When choosing gymnasts for inclusion into this index, I have to draw a line somewhere. Right now the first criteria is that a gymnast must have won at least a medal (of any kind) in a World Championships or Olympics competition since 1989 to be considered for inclusion. Gymnasts such as Karpenko, Teza, or Varga, while very talented (probably more so than some who are in the index already), fail to meet this condition. I am reconsidering this criteria, and may relax the condition so that obviously talented gymnasts who just missed being a medalist in the big meets (or simply because she is born in the wrong country to be able to ride the team-medal coattails) to be included in here. (In one instance this has happened already - but Ana Maria Bican would without a doubt have had won a team medal with Team Romania had she not been injured during training just a week before the start of the '96 Olympics.)

Update: Viktoria Karpenko's bio is now included in the index!

Gymnasts appear in alphabetic order.
* - denotes the gymnast has won the All-Around title in a World Championships or Olympic Games competition, with the year(s) in parenthese.
