ersity\nAbstract: Simulating the dynamics of quantum systems is one of the
most important (and the earliest) motivation for studying quantum compute
r. Given the Hamiltonian of a system and a particular time\, the problem i
s to obtain the state of the system after the time interval. For Hamiltoni
an which can be approximated by a sum of local Hamiltonians\, we can obtai
n the state by Trotter formular. The idea is to decompose the system into
several small subsystems to calculate the dynamics for each\, and then mer
ge them together. Finally\, in order to approximate the true state within
certain error bound\, we repeat the process many times.\n \nNote the effi
ciency of the process depends on the number and the simulating hardness of
local Hamiltonians\, it is interesting to figure out in which form Hamilt
onians can be efficiently simulated. In this talk\, I will introduce algor
ithms for simulating sparse Hamiltonians (where each row only has logarith
mic number of non-zero entries) and some non-sparse Hamiltonians (includin
g density matrices and matrices in particular form.)

e tensor network (TTN) simulation method for strongly correlated quantum s
ystems\, as outlined by Legeza\, Murg\, Noack\, and Verstraete [arXiv:1006
.3065v1]. This method will be compared with the density-matrix renormaliza
tion method\, which has been commonly used in the field of quantum entangl
ement for the last two decades. Time allowing\, we will consider the techn
iques presented in my previous talk on finding the invariants of phylogene
tic trees and discuss how they translate to this setting.

is very important. However\, since the Zariski topology is not Hausdorff
\, the usual notion of limits of sequences fails. We instead focus on a to
ol that allows us to still consider limit points\, namely the Hilbert-Mumf
ord criterion. We look at alternate formulations of this criterion as well
as some motivating examples.
