Getting a class roster from Elion

To get a class roster, you click on "Class Lists" on the left side of the main Elion screen

You will be presented with a list of semesters; choose the current semester.

After you select the current semester, you will be given a list of the classes you are teaching (usually, grad students will only see one class on this list). Click on Retrieve Class List.

At this point, elion will display on the web page a list of the students in your class. You will want to download the list. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the Email Class List (spreadsheet format). You want the spreadsheet format because it includes student ID numbers, while the other versions do not. The class list will be sent to your @psu.edu address.

Saving your class list to a file

To save your class list in a file using pine, first open the message to view it. The press the e button to "Export" the message. Pine will ask you for a file name; type a memorable name and press return. Pine will store the roster into a file with the name you chose.

Try this: If you are teaching this semester, have elion send you the class roster for your class and save it to a file in your home directory.
