Using the pine email program

To start the pine program, type pine at the command prompt. Pine will show you its main menu:

Sending mail with Pine

To send mail from Pine, press "C" at the main menu. You will be given a form in which to enter your message:

Try this: Send an email to mummert@math.psu.edu

Checking mail with Pine

Press "I" to open your "inbox" where new mail is kept. You can use the arrow keys to select a message. Press return to view the selected message. At any time, you can press Control-G to access the help system for Pine.

Try this: Send an email to your @psu.edu address. A few seconds later, use pine to check for new mail. If you set up your email forwarding above, should receive the message at your @math.psu.edu address.
