Title:

The Group of Volume Preserving Diffeomorphisms, Geometrical and
Physical Aspects: From Hydrodynamics to Branes

Abstract:

The Lie algebra of volume preserving vector fields is one of the
famous Cartan type infinite dimensional Lie algebras which play a
prominent role in differential geometry. The group of volume
preserving diffeomorphisms can be considered as its associated Lie
group and, since the work of Arnold in the sixties, has well known
links with hydrodynamics. We propose to review some recent results
about this group and Lie algebra, in the light of integrable
systems, Euler equations, deformation quantization theory, and
  homotopical algebra.
