Title: Variational Inequalities of Elliptic and Parabolic Type

Abstract:

The study of evolution problems, where the state of the system is
subject to some set of constraints often leads to problems involving
variational inequalities. In the lecture I shall discuss some
representative examples of parabolic variational inequalities in
detail and survey some of the common methods for proving existence of
solutions to such problems: the translation method, Rothe's method,
and the penalty method.
