    Digital media resources used:

  • Powerpoint presentations

In my Math22 class last semester, I made lecture notes in the Powerpoint format, so that students could use them to review the material before the exam. I also dedicated a couple of classes to going through the presentations in class, paying special attention to model problems and outlining the contents of the chapter once again. Here is one of the presentations I created:

Chapter 4 slides (Powerpoint converted to PDF, 76KB)

  • Digital video clips

This is a Quicktime clip showing the basic graphs of functions. This movie is a free web-based resource and was meant to complement the lecture material in my Spring 2007 Math22 class. I asked students to look at this movie and several other applets at home to broaden their understanding of the subject.

Graphs of functions movie (66KB, needs Quicktime to play)

(Description: The clip runs for about 5 seconds. It shows different behaviors of functions on the unit interval. It is very useful for students to get used to these functions.)

  • Review sheets /quizzes with LaTeX and PDF

For several semesters, I have been providing my students with online syllabi, sample quizzes, and review sheets for the tests in the course. I have also scanned all solutions of the tests and made them available on the web. I know my web has been widely popular in student community, and I think it did help them a lot in understanding of basic math concepts. The format that works best for the online documents, especially when it comes to the independence of platform, is the LaTeX-compiled PDF format. In fact, I always try to make PDF files to avoid possible complications. Here are some examples:

    Syllabi (general and personal)(PDFs)
Sample quizzes and review sheets for the exams (PDFs)
