Title: Quantum Chaos, Lattice Points and Equidistribution
Abstract: In this lecture I will discuss some of the recent mathematical developments in quantum chaos. A number of conjectures made by physicists in the 1970s and 1980s lead, for certain model systems, to fundamental problems in number theory, some of which have recently been solved by deep ergodic-theoretic techniques. The lecture is aimed at a non-specialist audience.
