Title: The Symplectomorphism group - an introduction

Abstract: A compact symplectic manifold (M,ω) possesses a rich group of structure preserving diffeomorphisms. Though this group is infinite dimensional, it is significantly smaller than the full group of diffeomorphisms of M and has many interesting algebraic, topological and geometric properties. This talk will give a general introduction to some of its most striking features.
