Title: Ergodic Theory and Algebra

Abstract: The talk is devoted to some intriguing connections between algebra, combinatorics and ergodic theory. We will start the discussion with focusing on the ergodic interpretation of the combinatorial lemmas which are behind the Hilbert's irreducibility theorem and Schur's result on the solvability of Fermat equation over finite fields. This discussion will lead us to some recent applications of Ergodic Ramsey theory to algebra and number theory. The last part of the talk will be devoted to open problems and conjectures.

The talk is intended for a general audience.
