Math 597E Spring 2007

Meeting Times: T Th 1:00-2:15, 113 McAllister
Instructor: Nigel Higson

Math 597E is the Graduate Student Seminar. Graduate students are required to participate in this class once before their third year of study.

The main goals of the Graduate Student Seminar are to give student participants early practice in the preparation and delivery of intermediate or advanced mathematics lectures and to expose them to a variety of mathematical topics that they might not otherwise encounter in their classes. Students will select lecture topics in consultation with the instructor and then prepare their lectures with the guidance of faculty in the department. The seminar will also touch on other topics, including mathematical writing and points of mathematical etiquette and ethics.
