Textbook: A Survey of Classical and Modern Geometries with Computer Activities by Arthur Baragar


Geometer's Sketchpad, a visual geometry utility created by Nicholas Jackiw and distributed by Key Curriculum Press is installed in all MAC computer labs on Penn State campus, particularly in 015A Sparks and 205 Chambers. You may purchase your own student copy for $39.95 either for Macintosh or for Windows from Key Curriculum Press at http://www.keycollege.com/Pages/ProdGSP.html.

 

Course Overview

 

Problem solving-oriented introduction to Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometries; construction problems and geometrical transformations via "Geometer's Sketchpad" software. Intended primarily for those seeking teacher certification in secondary mathematics. We will try to cover chapters 1, 11 and 6 from the textbook.
