April 25: Assignment #13 is posted, the solutions to the last quiz ever are posted, and the final is next Wednesday.  Regarding which...

  1. The final exam is Wednesday, May 3, 12:20 p.m. - 2:10 p.m. in 121 Sparks.  Be there, or be triangle.  Hmm... that doesn't make any sense...
  2. There will be a review session Monday evening, May 1 - room and time TBA.
  3. Extra office hours in my office, 430 McAllister:

    Friday, April 28 2:25 - 3:25 p.m.
    Tuesday, May 2 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
    Wednesday, May 3 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
  4. The question breakdown for the exam is posted on the official course website, as are the questions and solutions from last year's exam.
  5. There will be a formula sheet given to you on the exam.  It will not contain any formulas from chapter 7 (Law of Sines, Law of Cosines, Triangle Area).  You are responsible for knowing those formulas.  It will contain all the formulas from chapter 5 (trig functions of a sum or difference of angles, double angle and half angle formulas, sum-to-product and product-to-sum formulas), as well as the formulas from chapter 8 for converting between polar and rectangular coordinates.  You have now been warned.
  6. Good luck!!

April 17: Assignment #12 is posted, the solutions to the most recent quiz are posted, and we're doing course evaluations on Wednesday: so come to class and let the university know that I'm the most bestest teacher ever; or that a trained monkey could do a better job.  Whichever you like.

April 5: Assignment #10 is finally posted, in preparation for the quiz on Friday.  Also, the late drop deadline is this Friday, so if you're considering the unthinkable, do it soon.

March 24: The second midterm is next Thursday, March 30, at 6:30pm in 10 Sparks.

  1. The question breakdown is posted here on the official syllabus.
  2. Last year's midterm is also available.  Have a look at this, we'll be going over some of the questions in class.
  3. My office hours next week are 9-10 and 2:25-3:25 on Monday and Wednesday, plus 1-2 on Tuesday and Thursday, all in 430 McAllister.
  4. We will be having a review session at 8:15pm on Wednesday evening, the day before the midterm, in room 109 Osmond.

March 1: Assignment #7 and the quiz solutions have been posted.  There is still class on Friday, I mention for the benefit of all you scalliwags planning on being in Jamaica by then.  We're doing section 4.6, on inverse trig functions, and then playing beach volleyball.  If anyone brings a net...

February 22: The first midterm is over, assignment #6 has been posted, and we're moving on into chapter 4.  You should receive your midterm results by email within the next few days.  Also, if you have a conflict with the final exam time, you need to register that by the end of the week.

February 13: Three announcements, having to do with the midterm, a quiz following it, and the final exam:

  1. The question breakdown for the midterm is posted here on the official syllabus.
  2. There will be no quiz on Friday, February 24, the Friday following the midterm.  Instead, the quiz which was to take place on Friday, March 3 will be moved to Wednesday, March 1 - we will return to the regular schedule of Friday quizzes beginning with Friday, March 17.
  3. The final exam is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 3, 12:20pm-2:10pm, in room 121, Sparks building.

February 10: Assignment #5 and solutions to quiz #4 have been posted. There will be no quiz next Friday, February 17, due to the first midterm test, which will be at 6:30pm on Monday, February 20 in Room 10, Sparks Building.

February 2: It's February, Punxsutawney Phil has seen his shadow, and we can all look forward to six more weeks of winter.  If that's what they're calling this nowadays...

Also, assignment #4 is up.

January 30: Solutions to quiz #2 and the problem set for assignment #3 are now available.  And it's almost February!!

January 20: Solutions to the quiz are now up.  Answers to the rest of life's problems will have to wait until at least tomorrow morning...

January 19: The second assignment is up, and the first quiz is tomorrow during class.  After which comes a weekend, of only normal length this time, sadly.  But there's an election in Canada on Monday!  Also, solutions to the quiz will be posted sometime tomorrow evening.

January 12: The first assignment is now online - follow the link at right.  Future assignments, and solutions to quizzes, will be posted on this page throughout the term.  In other news, we have a long weekend coming up for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, so enjoy your day off on Monday, and take a couple minutes to remember the man it's in honour of, and everything he stood for.

January 9: The official course syllabus can be found online by going to the Math Department homepage and navigating to Undergraduate Program > Information for Math Courses > Math 026: Plane Trigonometry, or by clicking here. What follows is information specific to the two sections I am teaching this term.

This syllabus is also available in printable format here as an MSWord document, or here as a PS file, in case you did not receive it during class.
