Navier-Stokes equations for compressible fluids

As an introduction to my talk at the CAM seminar I will introduce the Navier-Stokes equations for compressible fluid flow (typically a gas). These are so-called conservation laws modeling how density, momentum and temperature varies in space and time. I will discuss how the equations are obtained from physical principles and mention some of the challenges in proving existence and uniqueness results for solutions.
