| Crofton's Formula expressing the length of a curve as an integral
over the space of oriented lines has an elementary proof, with some
corollaries that would otherwise be very difficult to prove. These
range from the monotonicity of the length of convex closed curves
to the solution of Hilbert's Fourth Problem on the plane. In this
talk, we will review the Crofton Formula on the plane and sphere and
discuss some immediate consequences and generalizations. |
