| In this talk, we will continue our discussion of rational generating functions based on Chapter 4 of Stanley's Enumerative Combinatorics. In particular, we will introduce the transfer-matrix method, which is used to construct the generating function for weighted walks on directed graphs. Applications to the enumeration of sequences and permutations will be discussed. |
