| Title: | Computational Aspects in the Search for (Rational) Generating Functions |
| Seminar: | Combinatorics/Partitions Seminar |
| Speaker: | James Sellers, Penn State |
| Abstract: |
| As an experimentalist, I am always intrigued when I learn about computational tools which can assist in the discovery of generating functions for various sequences of integers (especially when those sequences of integers are closely related to some type of integer partition functions). In this talk, I will describe the mathematics behind one such tool and demonstrate how this can be encoded in Maple (and show some cool examples of the code in action). The deepest mathematics involved is, arguably, the product rule for differentiation. |
