| I review the nonlocal balances of energy, angular and linear momentum. The nonlocal balances represent extensions to the classical balances and this relationship is reviewed. A kinematic model is also given leading to constitutive relations for the nonlocal balances. I also highlight the current mathematical of the nonlocal balances. The nonlocal balances enable reduced regularity assumptions on the primary fields and so are well suited when discontinuities are present. |
