| Title: | Inversion of the Born Series in Optical Tomography |
| Seminar: | Computational and Applied Mathematics Colloquium |
| Speaker: | John C Schotland, University of Michigan |
| Abstract: |
| The inverse problem of optical tomography consists of recovering the spatially-varying absorption of a highly-scattering medium from boundary measurements. In this talk we will discuss direct reconstruction methods for this problem that are based on inversion of the Born series. In previous work we have utilized such series expansions as tools to develop fast image reconstruction algorithms. Here we characterize their convergence, stability and approximation error. Analogous results for the Calderon problem of reconstructing the conductivity in electrical impedance tomography will also be presented.
