| Title: | On the Kashiwara-Vergne conjecture. Part 1 |
| Seminar: | Noncommutative Geometry Seminar |
| Speaker: | Nigel Higson, Penn State |
| Abstract: |
| The Kashiwara-Vergne conjecture (now proved) is a statement about the Campbell-Baker-Hausdorff formula in Lie theory. Among other things, it generalizes the Duflo isomorphism, which identifies the g-invariants in the symmetric algebra of a Lie algebra g with the center of the enveloping algebra of g. I shall give an introduction to the conjecture, followed by an account of work of Alekseev, Meinrenken, Torossian and others on the case of a quadratic Lie algebra. |
