|Title:||On the Kashiwara-Vergne conjecture. Part 1|
|Seminar:||Noncommutative Geometry Seminar|
|Speaker:||Nigel Higson, Penn State|
|The Kashiwara-Vergne conjecture (now proved) is a statement about the Campbell-Baker-Hausdorff formula in Lie theory. Among other things, it generalizes the Duflo isomorphism, which identifies the g-invariants in the symmetric algebra of a Lie algebra g with the center of the enveloping algebra of g. I shall give an introduction to the conjecture, followed by an account of work of Alekseev, Meinrenken, Torossian and others on the case of a quadratic Lie algebra.|
