| In this expository talk I will describe two short physically motivated proofs of two basic theorems: Euler's theorem on the polyhedra, and of the Riemann Mapping Theorem. There is, in the retrospect, a connection between the proofs of the first two mentioned theorems -- a connection that may have been harder to notice without the help of physical intuition. Time permitting, I will also describe a similarly motivated proof of the uniformization theorem. |
