| I'll present a construction, due to Freed, Hopkins and Teleman, that uses Kostant's Dirac operator to attach a coadjoint orbit to each irreducible representation of a compact connected Lie group. The construction can be placed into a K-theoretic context, where it becomes essentially the same thing as the Weyl character formula, as interpreted in K-theory by Bott. |
