| Title: | The WZ method__ historically and as a principle |
| Seminar: | Combinatorics/Partitions Seminar |
| Speaker: | Dr. George Andrews, Penn State |
| Abstract: |
| The WZ (Wilf-Zeilberger) method has allowed automated proofs of many combinatorial and hypergeometric sums. In this talk we shall start from scratch and illustrate the method by proving some simple and some not so simple identities. The method provides an overarching view of how to prove recalcitrant identities, and this useful idea will be illustrated as well. |
