| Title: | New model and elements for plates |
| Seminar: | Computational and Applied Mathematics Colloquium |
| Speaker: | L. Donatella Marini, University of Pavia, Italy |
| Abstract: |
| We present a new model for thin plates, intermediate between the
classical Kirchoff and Reissner-Mindlin models. The advantage with
respect to the Kirchoff model is that it allows for numerical
approximations with C^0-elements instead of C^1, and at the same
time it is less difficult to deal with than Reissner-Mindlin.
We introduce suitable finite element spaces over a cartesian grid,
and show optimal convergence properties. |
