|Title:||New model and elements for plates|
|Seminar:||Computational and Applied Mathematics Colloquium|
|Speaker:||L. Donatella Marini, University of Pavia, Italy|
|We present a new model for thin plates, intermediate between the
classical Kirchoff and Reissner-Mindlin models. The advantage with
respect to the Kirchoff model is that it allows for numerical
approximations with C^0-elements instead of C^1, and at the same
time it is less difficult to deal with than Reissner-Mindlin.
We introduce suitable finite element spaces over a cartesian grid,
and show optimal convergence properties.|
