| Title: | Floer homology and the spectral metric |
| Seminar: | GAP Seminar |
| Speaker: | Zhigang Han, Millersville University |
| Abstract: |
| After a brief review of the Morse homology, I will go through the definition of the Floer homology of a Hamiltonian diffeomorphism, which is an infinite dimensional analog of Morse homology. Using the Floer homology, I will define a biinvariant metric, known as the Schwarz-Oh spectral metric on the group of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms. Finally I will explain why the spectral metric does not extend to a biinvariant metric on the group of all symplectomorphisms for certain symplectic manifolds. |
