|Title:||Random walks in random environments on a strip: a review|
|Seminar:||Seminar on Probability and its Application|
|Speaker:||Ilya Goldsheid, Queen Mary, London|
|ABSTRACT. A random walk with jumps to nearest layers on a strip can be
viewed as a natural extension of the model of a random walk on a line with jumps to
nearest neighbours. On the other hand, the study of one-dimensional models with bounded jumps
can be reduced to that of the model on a strip.
I shall review some recent results concerned with the asymptotic behaviour of such walks
in the case when the probabilities of jumps are themselves random (and thus form the so called random environment).|
