| Given a billiard orbit in the square
which sides are hit in which order? This question
leads to the theory of Sturmian sequences. I will
describe joint work with Corinna Ulcigrai where we solve an
analogous problem for the regular octagon.
If time permits I will explain the connection between our work
and the general question of renormalization
techniques in parabolic dynamics. |
