| We will start with a survey of some factual background on exotic smooth structures
on spheres and tori. Then we will proceed with constructions due
to Farrell and Jones of an expanding map and an Anosov map on exotic
tori. These provide examples of hyperbolic systems on manifolds that
do not support algebraic hyperbolic systems.
Finally we will discuss some results about richness of topology of the
space of Anosov systems. The latter is a work in progress with Tom
Farrell. |
