| I will show how to introduce commutative algebraic methods to study
problems about Hilbert space operators, especially those of a "local"
nature, such as the Fredholm index. Examples include how to calculate
Fredholm index using Samuel multiplicity, a fundamental local invariant of
algebraic varieties.
The talk is accessible to graduate students. |
