| Title: | Matrix with non-commutative entries and Family algebras |
| Seminar: | Department of Mathematics Colloquium |
| Speaker: | Alexandre Kirillov, University of Pennsylvania |
| Abstract: |
| Matrices with non-commutative elements are used as long as ordinary matrices, but the theory of such matrices barely exists. I argue that a relatively natural and useful theory can be developed for a special kind of such matrices. Namely, for those who satisfy the Hamilton-Cayley identity.
A rich source of such matrices is the theory of Family algebras, related with representations of Lie algebras. The definition and simple example of Family algebras will be given. |
