|Title:||Building Exams That Work|
|Speaker:||Stan Smith, John Ethier|
|Assessment is an integral part of the Learning Cycle. Creating good exams enhances the learning process. Essential to the accreditation process is that appropriate data exist which provides evidence the course and curriculum learning objectives are satisfied. An initial step in the process is determining desired outcomes for a student taking a course. As of Summer 2008, this has been done for each of the First-year Mathematics courses. One of the next steps is to critically examine assessment tools (at this seminar, exams will be discussed) to insure that they “test” the stated objectives. John and Stan will address some ideas for writing exam questions that address assessment needs.|
