| An equivalence relation of Durfee Symbols related to ordinary partitions will be
defined. A method utilizing the relation to prove $q$-series identities will be described. As an application, alternative proofs will be given to the results in Section 13 of Andrews' paper "Partitions, Durfee Symbols, and Atkin-Garvan Moments of Ranks". Other applications will be sketched as time allows. |
