| Title: | A generalized Fredholm and the Gromov-Witten example I and II |
| Seminar: | Symplectic Topology Seminar |
| Speaker: | Helmut Hofer, Courant Institute, NY University |
| Abstract: |
| Abstract: In this two-lecture series I will describe a
very general nonlinear
Fredholm theory which works in spaces much more general than
Banach manifolds. The main point of such a generalization is that
many interesting Floer-type theories which usually can only be
constructed
in an adhoc fashion allow a more conceptual approach.
Some of the ideas will be explained in the context of Gromov-Witten
theory.
