|Title:||Introduction to Borel equivalence relations and classification problems, part 3|
|Speaker:||John Clemens, Pennsylvania State University|
|I will present an introduction to the theory of Borel equivalence relations, explaining both the abstract theory of Borel reducibility and applications to classification problems. I will focus primarily on countable Borel equivalence relations, with the goal of presenting a recent theorem of Hjorth about treeable equivalence relations, which in particular shows that the structure of the countable Borel equivalence relations under Borel reducibility is very complicated.|
