| Title: | Exponentially small splitting of separatrices for several rapid periodic perturbations of the pendulum |
| Seminar: | Center for Dynamics and Geometry Seminar |
| Speaker: | Marcel Guardia, University Politechnica Catalunia |
| Abstract: |
| In this talk we study the splitting of separatrices for the pendulum
when it is perturbed rapidly and periodically. In that case, Melnikov
theory can not be applied since the Melnikov function is exponentially
small with respect to the period of the forcing.
First we will consider an entire perturbation and we will see in which
cases Melnikov integral predicts correctly the splitting and we will
provide an alternative approach when it does not. Secondly we will
consider a meromorphic perturbation and we will show how the size of
the splitting depends on the size of the strip of analyticity of the
perturbation. |
