Title:Floer homology of cotangent bundles
Seminar:Symplectic Topology Seminar
Speaker:David Hurtubise (PSU)
Abstract:
talk 1:25PM in McAllister 315 Abstract: Let M be a closed smooth manifold. The cotangent bundle T*M has a natural symplectic structure, and given a time-dependent Hamiltonian on T*M satisfying certain conditions one can define the symplectic Floer homology of T*M. Unlike the compact case, the Floer homology of T*M is not the singular homology of the underlying manifold. Instead, the Floer homology of T*M turns out to be isomorphic to the singular homology of the free loop space of M. In this talk I will outline three different approaches to establishing this isomorphism. The approaches three approaches are due to 1) Viterbo, 2) Abbondandolo and Schwarz, and 3) Salamon and Weber.
