| Title: | Strichartz inequalities and best constants |
| Seminar: | CCMA Luncheon Seminar |
| Speaker: | Vadim Zharnitsky, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign |
| Abstract: |
| Strichartz inequalities are related to the space-time estimates of the solutions of linear dispersive equations,
such as the Schroedinger equation arising in quantum mechanics. These estimates are extremely useful for the study
of nonlinear dispersive PDEs and they reflect the dispersive nature of the equations - different frequencies
propagate with different velocities.
We will give a simple derivation of the classical Strichartz inequality in one dimension and explain why the Gaussian
function produces the best constant. |
