| Title: | Dynamical Entropies in Quantum Mechanics: Relevance and Problems |
| Seminar: | Center for Dynamics and Geometry Seminar |
| Speaker: | Giorgio Mantica, Insubria |
| Abstract: |
| I shall discuss the relevance of the Alicki-Fannes dynamical entropy to
a definition of quantum chaos that would provide rigour to the
problem and that might also be used pragmatically. In this respect I
shall outline the problems arising in its numerical computation for
model systems like the quantum Arnol'd cat. I will present a technique based
on exploiting the algebraic properties of a "decoherence" matrix
within a large-matrix algorithm originally developed by Gene Golub.
The talk will aim at giving a general perspective of the combination of dynamical
systems, quantum mechanics and numerical analysis that is present in
this problem. |
