|Given a weighted simple closed geodesic C on a hyperbolic surface X, the surface is grafted along C by cutting along by cutting the surface along C and inserting a Euclidean cylinder of height s. For s > 0, this defines a grafting ray in Teichmuller space. We compare this with the Teichmueller ray that starts at X and whose vertical foliation is e^t C.|
