|Title:||On the Newlander-Nirenberg theorem|
|Seminar:||Noncommutative Geometry Seminar|
|Speaker:||Dmitry Scheglov, Penn State|
The Newlander-Nirenberg theorem gives a simple criterion for when an almost-complex structure comes from a complex structure.
All the known proofs of the Newlander-Nirenberg theorem heavily rely on analytic machinery related to PDE and KAM-type theories. In 2008 and 2009 hungarian physisist Gabor Etesi found a geometric approach to the theorem coming from Yang-Mills theory. We will give friendly introduction to this interesting theorem and discuss related recent papers by Etesi.
