| Title: | On the Newlander-Nirenberg theorem |
|---|---|
| Seminar: | Noncommutative Geometry Seminar |
| Speaker: | Dmitry Scheglov, Penn State |
| Abstract: | |
The Newlander-Nirenberg theorem gives a simple criterion for when an almost-complex structure comes from a complex structure. All the known proofs of the Newlander-Nirenberg theorem heavily rely on analytic machinery related to PDE and KAM-type theories. In 2008 and 2009 hungarian physisist Gabor Etesi found a geometric approach to the theorem coming from Yang-Mills theory. We will give friendly introduction to this interesting theorem and discuss related recent papers by Etesi. | |
