| Title: | Parity in Partition Identities: Lecture 1 (of 5 lectures) |
| Seminar: | Combinatorics/Partitions Seminar |
| Speaker: | George Andrews, Department of Mathematics, Penn State |
| Abstract: |
| ABSTRACT: The parity of parts in partitions has been of significance in
classical partition identities such as Euler's theorem and the
Goellnitz-Gordon identities. In this series of five lectures we examine
several the Rogers-Ramanujan and Gordon identities by looking at the
parity of parts.
LECTURE 1: "Background and Upper Parity Index." This will provide a new
interpretation of the Rogers-Ramanujan identities and new results for the
fifth order mock theta functions. |
