Title:(Meeting at 12:20) Moduli Interpretation for Noncongruence Modular Curves
Seminar:Algebra and Number Theory Seminar
Speaker:(Meeting at 12:20) Will Chen, PSU
The arithmetic theory for modular forms for congruence subgroups of SL(2,Z) is extremely rich and very well understood. Far less is known about modular forms for noncongruence subgroups of SL(2,Z). To date, some of the crucial differences are the nonexistence of Hecke operators and moduli interpretations for noncongruence modular curves. In this talk I will describe a moduli interpretation for a vast class of noncongruence modular curves using the theory of “origamis”, which when restricted to congruence subgroups agrees with the usual moduli interpretation, and as time permits describe its connection with the unbounded denominators conjecture.
