Title:"Tensor Networks, Complexity Theory, and Algebraic Geometry"
Seminar:Ph.D. Oral Comprehensive Examination
Speaker:Jacob Turner, Adviser: Jason Morton, Penn State
Abstract:
Tensor networks are a tool that have many applications to different fields. I am particularly interested in its connections to complexity theory and algebraic geometry. First I'll discuss applications of tensor networks in finding polynomial time algorithms. Then I'll talk about how the hardness of counting problems implies relations on varieties.
