Title:"Loop Groups and Weyl-Kac Character Formula"

After a review of finite dimensional representation theory of compact connected Lie groups, we shall introduce the loop groups and study their positive energy representations from geometric and analytical approaches. Similar to the case of compact connected Lie group, there is a corresponding character formula known as Weyl-Kac character formula that describes the characters of positive energy representations. Following J. Block and N. Higson's recent work that gives a KK-theoretic interpretation of Weyl character formula, we are trying to reformulate the Weyl-Kac character formula in the framework of KK-theory, using tools from geometric/topological K-homology or its twisted counterpart.
