Title:Gluing under lower curvature bound
Seminar:Center for Dynamics and Geometry Seminars
Speaker:Nan Li, Penn State
Abstract:
Consider the gluing of Alexandrov spaces (metric spaces with curvature bounded from below in the sense of triangle comparsion) without losing volume. It is a non-trivial question to ask if the resulted space still have a lower curvature bound. Petrunin proved that this is true when the gluing is from two spaces and along their isometric boundaries, but it was open whether these conditions are also necessary. This is equivalent to ask what we can say if there is a 1-Lipschitz onto map between Alexandrove spaces which also preserves volume. In this talk, we will discuss it along with various examples.
